Frequently asked questions
First look at the FAQ. If the answer is not there, email us your question via the form at the bottom of this page.

What does the JCFA do?
The JCFA belives that every child in Amsterdam should be able to participate in cultural classes.
We advertise for cultural classes. And we pay the class fees if the parents have a low income.
Can I get financial aid?
When evaluating applications, we look at the income level of the family. The JCFA only
reimburses the class fees for low incomes, which means not having any money to pay the classes.
Usually, the family has a city pass. That is enough evidence for us. As a parent, you can submit
an application with us yourself.
If your child does not have a city pass, your application must be submitted via an intermediary.
In that application, it should clearly state that the family:
– Earns less than 120% of the minimum wage; OR
– Has a lot of outstanding debt; OR;
– Is undocumented
– For other reasons is not able to pay the class fees
Tip * At Amsterdam.nl/pakjekans, there is more information on what is a low income.

How does the JCFA work?
Step 1: The applicant submits an application for a child with the JCFA
Step 2: A staff member of the JCFA checks to see if the application fulfils all requirements. In
case of uncertainties, we get in touch with the applicant
Step 3: The applicant receives an email when the application is accepted. Every application gets
its own file reference number. In the event of a rejection, we try to refer the applicant as best we
can.
Step 4: If the application has been approved, the applicant receives the
request to email the invoice for the classes to the JCFA. The invoice may also be sent by the
parent/guardian or by a cultural institution.
Step 5: When the invoice is received, the JCFA will pay the amount due
directly to the cultural institution.
Who is an intermediary?
An intermediary is, for example a:
– Teacher, principle, or mentor at the child’s school
– Child-parent advisors at school. Click here to find out who that is at your child’s school
– Stichting Samen is niet Alleen (SINA). Please call 06-28380433 or send an email to
sponsormaatje@gmail.com
– Social workers (e.g. Madi, Swazoom, Civic, Dynamo, Leefkringhuis, Centram).
– Staff at the Food Bank
– General Practitioners
– Youth care providers
– Opvoedpoli
– Certain providers of cultural activities; ask the reception of the music- or dance school
I have submitted an application. What now?
Step 1: You submit an application for your child
Step 2: The JCFA evaluates that application witin two weeks and will inform you of the decision
via email. If needed, the JCFA can request additional information.
Step 3: If the application has been accepted, you email – within two weeks of receiving the
acceptance – the invoice for the classes to info@jongerencultuurfonds.nl including the file
reference number and the name of the child. Be careful! If we don’t receive the invoice on time,
the application will be cancelled.
Step 4: Thereafter, the JCFA will pay the allotted amount directly to the cultural institution.
